US M113A2

Ashley Abernathy | Tamiya #265

The M113A2 was an improved U.S. Army version of the M113 armored personnel carrier, introduced in 1979. Upgrades included improved engine cooling, strengthened suspension, and repositioned fuel tanks for better reliability and safety. Powered by a diesel engine, the tracked, aluminum-armored vehicle carried a crew of two plus 11 infantrymen and was normally armed with a .50-caliber M2 machine gun. The M113A2 served as a versatile platform for troop transport, command, mortar, medical, and other specialized roles.

The model will be marked as a vehicle during Operation Iraqi Freedom, B Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment.
